PROGRAMS

Whether you’re interested in our six-day Spring Workshop and Retreat, our Fall Writers’ Bash, or our inaugural Ossabaw Writers Craft & Seminar Day Trip, you will find inspiration and professional, one-on-one feedback from our nationally recognized faculty and staff.  Ossabaw Writers’ Retreat Foundation offers a variety of programs to address the needs of writers hoping to expand their craft and improve their work-in-progress. We hope you will join us in this great literary tradition by taking part in one or more of the various programs offered by the Ossabaw Writers’ Retreat Foundation. Where loggerhead sea turtles and endangered wood storks nest. Where historic cultures are studied. Where photographers, writers, painters and musicians listen, watch, reflect and create.

Six-day Spring Retreat Workshops

Applications for fiction, nonfiction, and poetry at the 2025 Spring Retreat are open. Deadline February 1, 2025

Join us for our 13th annual Spring Ossabaw Island Writers’ Retreat, March 14-19, 2025

Work with one of our critically acclaimed writers in a workshop limited to five qualified participants. Each day, participants will bring manuscripts of their work-in-progress to their assigned workshop group where they will read, discuss and receive feedback about their projects from fellow participants and the assigned group leader. Workshop manuscripts should be limited to 12 pages poetry/16-20 pages fiction or non-fiction.

All work and no play make for a dull day–therefore, writers will have plenty of time to rest, relax and explore the island during the morning and afternoons. In addition, writers will meet with their faculty members one-on-one to discuss their manuscripts in detail.

WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION: $3595 tuition covers six days and five nights lodging, meals, writing workshops, one-on-one manuscript consultations with nationally recognized authors, craft seminarsreadings, visiting agents and publishers, ferried transportation to the island, and special hotel rates for those who wish to visit Savannah before or after the Retreat. $200 early-bird discounts before November 30, 2024.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Application deadline, February 1, 2025. Early applications highly recommended since there are limited openings (five-six per genre) and the retreat tends to fill quickly.
